Ancient Nubia and the Sahel
Project Researcher: RRA
Collaborator: Adjaye Associates
This research project was part of a series of research initiated in collaboration with the architectural practice Adjaye Associates. The research investigated the architectures and artefacts of ancient Nubia (now Sudan) along the Nile River Valley. Through a dynamic investigation, the work expanded to look at its historic tensions and alliance with ancient Egypt; structures such as Nubian Pyramids and Defuffas (Royal Cemeteries); mythologies that highlighted historic figures and rituals such as Cattle Worship to the Goddess Hathor and the beginnings of holistic regenerative agricultural systems.
